The street piano we’ll be introducing this time is the one at the Ikigai Activities Center Kiraria Kita in Kita Ward, Tokyo.
In Japan, street pianos are often set up in cultural centers like the one mentioned above.
They’re very easy places to play on.
Street pianos set up in cultural centers often have restrictions, such as only being able to be played on weekdays.

Before playing, you write your name at the reception.
The piano had a great sound.
It seemed like people from the neighborhood also came to play, so it was a nice, homey space.

Location

Kita-ku, Tokyo 5-2-5 Oji Kita-ku Ikigai Activity Center Kiraria North 1st floor lobb.
The photo is taken at night, so it is dark, but apparently there is a sign up when the street piano can be played.

It’s about a 10-minute walk from Higashi-Jujo Station, but if you go there using Google Maps, you might find yourself lost in an apartment complex nearby.
I got lost there.
There is a complex called Summit Store Oji Sakurada-dori Branch, which includes a supermarket and a drugstore, so it’s easiest to head there first.
Proceed along the pedestrian-only road in front of Summit Store Oji Sakurada-dori Branch.

You will come to a wide road, so turn right and continue straight.

After walking for a while, you will see Kiraria Kita on your left.
Recommended access : Train
The nearest station is Oji-Kamiya Station on the Toei Subway.
It’s about a 10-minute walk away.
I think it’s easiest to get there from Higashi-Jujo Station on the Keihin-Tohoku Line.
Afterword
The street piano can only be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays (only the 2nd and 4th on Tuesdays).
Playing is available on Thursday evenings and Tuesday afternoons.
A homey space that is easy to play in.
The people at street piano receptions are often cold-hearted, but the people at this facility were very kind and we had a little chat before the performance, so I had a lot of fun playing .
