Street piano at Shimokita Front

This time we will be introducing a street piano located at Shimokita Front, about a 3-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line.
This is an outdoor location, so you cannot play the piano in the rain.

It’s a rare spot where you can play music from 8am.
Many people play here, and the street piano appears on TV programs introducing Shimokitazawa, so I think it’s quite famous in Shimokitazawa.

How the street pianos were installed

The story behind how the Town Piano Project was launched was posted on Facebook.

“Town Pianos” have been a hot topic recently. These pianos are placed haphazardly in public spaces where many people come and go, such as in the middle of a crowd, at meeting places at stations or airports, in squares, and other places. These free pianos allow passersby to play them as they like and make music.
The lively movements of people gathered around the piano create new communication and invigorate the space with their free rhythms. Eventually, music will color the town and create a cultural atmosphere. The town piano may even become a symbol of a free town.
We really want to make this “town piano” a reality in the Shimokitazawa area. With this desire in mind, a project team has been formed from within the Kitazawa PR Strategy Council. Why not join this team? Together, let’s make a free “town piano” that is unique to this town a reality!

Looking at Facebook, it seems that it originally started from Setagaya Daita Station, not Shimokitazawa Station.
After that, it moved from the second floor to the first floor of Shimokita Front, and looking at the articles posted on Facebook, you can really get a sense of its history.

The event will be canceled in the event of rain.

No jamming with other instruments or singing

The street piano is located at the arrow as you exit the east exit of Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line.
It’s about a 2-3 minute walk away.

Recommended access : Train

The nearest station is Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line.

Personally, I recommend going by bicycle.
There is a shopping street in Shimokitazawa, so you can enjoy cycling there too.

Afterword

This street piano can be played from 8am.
It cannot be played in the rain.
It’s an easy spot for beginners to play.

Best of all, you can start playing from 8am, so it’s a great place to start your street piano tour♪

I realized once again that the people who run it have a really tough job.
