The street piano we’d like to introduce this time is located at Machi Cafe COCOON in Tachikawa, Tokyo.
You can play the street piano installed inside the restaurant.
It’s a wonderful space where you can enjoy both food and piano.
Piano Type :Grand Piano
It’s rare to see a street piano with an open top.
This is a restaurant, but it’s run by someone who loves the sound of pianos, and they value the piano’s sound and the space it creates.
The felt on the piano keys is a rare blue color, which is lovely.

Installation date : Permanent
Available times for performance: 11:00-16:30 Lunchtime
Piano night every Monday from 17:30 to 20:30.
Performances are available during dinner time too.
*On piano nights, it is a good idea to let the venue know in advance that you will be playing the piano when making a reservation.
With pictures of pianos on the menu and J-pop music played on the piano playing in the background, this is a restaurant that is filled with a piano theme.
It was wonderful to be able to enjoy the piano while eating.
It seems that you can play the piano even if you don’t order.
*On piano nights, only one order is required.

Official website here.
Notes
Notes quat
- As we are a restaurant, the main focus is on food.
Therefore, we may not be able to play music depending on how busy the restaurant is.- The piano cannot be used when the venue is being used as an event space.
- Please let a staff member know if you would like to play the piano.
It seems that the chances of getting a piano performance increase from 2:30 p.m. onwards.
I also went around 2:30 p.m. and the place was pretty much booked.
Location

1-26-10 Fujimi-cho, Tachikawa-shi, Tokyo Community Building Anan 2nd floor Machi Cafe COCOON
Recommended access : Train
The nearest station is Nishi-Tachikawa Station.
However, it’s also about a 30-minute walk from Tachikawa Station.
It passes by Showa Memorial Park so we arrived surprisingly quickly.
Afterword
You can play the grand piano with the top open.
You can also enjoy meals here.
At night, you can play in the stylish blue light.(However, the opening hours are limited at night.)
It was my first time playing the piano while enjoying a meal, but it was a lot of fun.
The photo below is of the daily lunch (chicken stewed in vinegar), which came with salad, soup and a drink for 1,320 yen, so it was good value for money.
Next time I’d like to try playing at night.
